WHAT IS A GSF CERTIFIED SPONSOR AND HOW DO I GET ONE?

WHAT IS A GSF CERTIFIED SPONSOR?

A GSF Certified Sponsor is: a GSF member who has a minimum of 180 days (6 months) of back to back abstinence AND has successfully completed the GSF Sponsor Certification Training.  This means this member has demonstrated he/she is competent in the areas of:

  • SCOPE OF SERVICE
  • ETHICS
  • LAWS AND REGULATIONS REGARDING SPONSORING
  • COMMUNICATION SKILLS
  • THE GSF POLICIES AND PRINCIPLES
  • THE DYNAMICS THAT TEND TO OCCUR IN THE SPONSORHIP RELATIONSHIP
  • THE ESTABLISHMENT OF EFFECTIVE BOUNDARIES
  • THE GSF DISPUTE RESOLUTION PROCESS

As well, a GSF Certified Sponsor is:

  • a volunteer
  • non-paid
  • willing member 
  • who is committed to leading others one-on-one and day-by-day on this journey to their right-sized bodies. 
  • available for each Sponsee for a 15 minute discussion every day.  
  • a supporter of the Sponsee as they adjust to their new food plan and the application of the GSF principles and policies.



HOW DO I GET A GSF CERTIFIED SPONSOR?

It is suggested that an individual seeking a GSF Certified Sponsor to attend a few of the GSF meetings, either in person, online or teleconference. It is best to see and hear the prospective GSF Sponsor to be sure he/she has the attributes the Sponsee is seeking.
